Mandala with Cotinus Leaf and Panicles

My goal with this photo was to take something from nature and photograph it in an original way, and I wanted to create art that challenges the viewer to look at the natural world in a new way. The unique characteristics of the cotinus leaf and cotinus panicles are emphasized when rendered within the rotational symmetry of the mandala form. The design takes on a three-dimensional quality with the mix of curved and straight lines. An in-camera multiple exposure of eight exposures was used to create the effect.
