Manual Dehusking

Dehusking or removal of the husk from the grains is still done in a manual manner in many rural areas of India. A moment in this process captured here. Wheat is being dehusked in the Konkan region. The bat which can be seen lying is used to first beat the grains after it is harvested. Then these beaten grains are gathered in the thing which is seen raised by the lady. That is then blown in the manner whereby the husk fly off and the grains are gathered below.
