On a fleeting visit to the Ragnhild Emperor Penguin colony in Crown Bay, Antarctica in early November 2023 I had time to capture a few images for myself after capturing aerial images for an accurate colony count. This colony was only discovered in 2012 from interpretation of satellite images and has been rarely visited. The bulk of the penguins were consolidated in groups on guano covered sea ice. I was fortunate to find a few penguins on the periphery of the colony for some clean portraits.
