Marketplace of Ideas
Man in a shelter with a broad variety of political views expressed on its exterior. The shelter is in Lafayette Square just outside the White House. Justice Black coined the term "marketplace of ideas." The theory was that the government ought not regulate speech but that instead the merit of ideas and speech would rise and fall under their own merit.
