13th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Masaya Volcano

Masaya Volcano is one of the most active and usual volcano in the world. It is the first and largest national park in Nicaragua. It's constantly emits large amounts of sulfur dioxide gas and you got only 5 minutes to look inside the crater and believe me you don't need more than 5 minutes. Its truly an amazing experience to feel to power of the Earth.
