There have been many days, over the past 25 years, when I have been along the Potomac River watching for osprey, herons, eagles and other wildlife. This is the only time I have witnessed a close encounter, one might say "attack", such as the one captured in this photograph. The "attack" took just seconds and, fortunately, my camera (with a long lens) was ready and I "got the shot".
