Maya the Agave americana on her death bloom in Chicago's Garfield Park Conservatory.
The Garfield Park Conservatory's Agave americana, which bloomed for the first time in over 50 years. Maya, as it was nicknamed, grew so tall she was literally through the roof! That day she was 38 ft. 1 in. Agave plants bloom only once, and then they die.
