Maze coral at sunset

Half above and half below view of the maze coral at Hon Yen, Phu Yen province during sunset time. Meandrina meandrites, commonly known as maze coral, is a species of colonial stony coral in the family Meandrinidae. Only few low tide days of the year that we could witness the exposure of the shallow coral reefs along the coastline of Hon Yen, Phu Yen province. The coastal ecosystem here is home for hundred of species, protect coastline from storms and erosion, provide jobs & source of food for local communities. Unfortunately, environmental factors threaten the coast, making the underwater ecosystem more vulnerable.
