18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Meadowlark
We were driving around the backroads in northern Arkansas, looking for interesting things when we spotted this Meadowlark singing on an old stump. I had to get out of the car and try to get close enough for the shot without scaring him off.
