Memorial to Blue Kate, Key Underwood Coon Dog Cemetery
A memorial to Blue Kate, a UKC-registered coonhound, in the Key Underwood Coon Dog Cemetery near Cherokee, Alabama. The graveyard is the only one in the world reserved exclusively for certified coonhound breeds. Blue Kate's story unfolds on her tombstone: After treeing over 200 raccoons, she was tragically struck by a car while running a raccoon. Kate died in 1978 at eight years of age.
