The famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign became a memorial site shortly after 58 people were killed by a gunman at the Mandalay Bay hotel on October 1, 2017. The area includes a row of altars with photos of each of the 58 people who were killed, as well as banners, trinkets, and messages written by visitors from all over the world.
