23rd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
Men’s Attire Showcase
Men use their bodies as canvases, drawing geometric patterns with white clay, draped in colorful cloth, standing on riverbanks and rugged slopes. Even the wooden staffs in their hands carry the tribe’s wildness and poetry. This is living art born from nature and tradition, each pattern a code written by the land to life.
