The Mentawai have one of the earth’s most fascinating and best-preserved indigenous cultures. They are jungle dwellers, natural healers, characterised by their spirituality, body art and close relationship to nature. Tragically, the Mentawai people, their culture, and their lands are perilously close to being lost by the tidal wave of Indonesia’s modernization.
