The elusive great gray owl perches on a snag as it hunts for prey in the early evening. For months I went in search of the great gray owl, the largest of our owls in North America, without success. Then after a tip from an acquaintance I finally spotted the outline of this owl one evening, off in the distance as it surveyed it's territory.
