18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Migration

A flock of flamingos spending the summer in Anatolia is a sight one rarely sees in the country. It is as if once they cross the bend in the river they would keep on flying all the way to another continent to spend the winter. From the UNTAMED series. I photographed natural areas where there is no human disturbance in Turkey's all four Black Sea, Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean coasts from the air by flying in my paramotor over the course of two years.
