In 2014 the former COFO Headquarters in Meridian, Mississippi was illegally demolished despite attempts to landmark the historically significant Civil Rights structure. This was the office of slain civil rights workers Mickey Schwerner, Andrew Goodman, and James Chaney. In front of their friend and fellow Freedom Rider Roscoe Jones, the historic building was razed.
