Monarch Butterfly Caterpillar

As a family activity my family collects milkweed seeds to use to propagate monarch butterfly habitat. We look for fields with patches of the mature milkweed plants and make it a family outing. We pack a picnic and bring our cameras. After a whole season this was the first of only two monarch caterpillars I saw. Suburbia and urban sprawl in our area are crowding the monarchs out.
