Monarch butterfly on daisies, St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge
Wakulla County, Florida Migrating monarch butterflies stop at the 60,000 acre St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge between October and November due to an abundant food supply. Most end up filtering west along the Gulf of Mexico coast to southern Texas when temperatures get too low.
