Monarch on a Dahlia

My husband and I went to Simmon’s Farm to pick a pumpkin for Halloween. At Simmon’s Farm they take you on a tractor hay ride through their apple orchard and over the hill to where their pumpkin patch was located. This year as a result of all the rain, a lot of the pumpkins had suffered, so instead of picking the pumpkins you simply chose one from the pile. As a result, it was pretty easy to find a pumpkin, leaving plenty of time to explore the grounds. We wandered through a corn maze to find a garden filled with dahlias and other various wild flowers. I was desperate to get a picture of the Monarch butterflies milling about and my husband chivalrously had me up on his shoulders. Amongst my 100’s of photos I found this photograph.
