Mongolian Suburbs

The coldest capitol city in the world and one of the most polluted, Ulaanbaatar accounts for nearly half of all of Mongolia's population with 1.7 million people living there and 3.5 in the entire country. A massive influx continues into the city as nomadic herding people leave traditional lifestyle economies, arriving to the city in search of better jobs and education for their children. The traditional Gers, or yurts dot the countryside and valleys as the city balloons in population and neighborhood but not infrastructure or services.
