Monsters at the door

A group of Krampusse in standing front of a house in the village of Zgornje Duplje in Slovenia. Krampus is a horned mythological creature that acompanies St. Nicholas. Traditionally, on the eve of St. Nicholas day (December 6), St. Nicholas and his Krampusse visit households. While St. Nicholas brings gifts to good children, the Krampusse chase the bad ones and take them away. Here, they waited for St. Nicholas to come out of the house, howling and screaming to scare the children inside.
