A black man and a white woman hug at the foot of the Padrão dos Descobrimentos, the Monument to the Discoveries. Built in 1960 in honor of Prince Henry the Navigator and the Portuguese explorers of the fifteenth and sixteenth century, these ones were often at the origin of the Portuguese colonialism.
