Monuments to an Indigenous Legacy
This photo is of the Pyramid of the Sun (taken from the top of the Pyramid of the Moon) Teotihuacan, Mexico, just outside of Mexico City. Taken during Columbus Day weekend, it meant a lot to me to be there to celebrate my own indigenous heritage, rather than the destruction and genocide heralded by Columbus' arrival. The majesty of the pyramids, even after thousands of years, is a testament to the great indigenous civilizations of Mexico.
