Moonset over Badwater Basin

Finding the perfect salt formation in Death Valley's namesake basin is no easy task! I hauled myself across the salt flats for hours and hours the previous afternoon, looking for the single salt polygon that would serve as my subject. I found this well-formed example after miles of hot, sweaty, futile searching across the wasteland, and marked the GPS, hoping for some color the following morning. I wasn't disappointed, as the moon was setting as the sun was rising, creating awesome colors in the sky!
