Morning Temples
I woke up at 5 am to enable me to walk from our boat to a temple on top of a hill to watch the sunrise. We were docked on the Irrawaddy near Mandalay in Myanmar surrounded by numerous buddhist temples in a small busy river landing. On my way i passed early morning flower sellers, cooks frying eggs in open tent restaurants, trying hard to avert bicycles and motor bikes. On the way to the temple I passed monks sweeping the streets with palm branches, asking me for alms. After climbing many stairs, I finally arrived at the top to see a golden sunrise thrust across dozens of temples waking up to the morning. A magnificent ending to a 10 day boat trip in Myanmar.
