A portrait of a friend's mother, Mpatiyo Muli Lekutuk, from Amboseli, Kenya. She holds a beautiful necklace she made for me as a guest at her village. She was preoccupied when I took this photo with preparations for her son's wedding, and reminded me of a someone clutching a rosary in classic church paintings. After the death of her husband she looked after the family's cattle heard, the main source of wealth and prestige for Masai people, and raised a large family of children who are educated and now prominent in the community. Always grateful for this family's hospitality.
