Mother and Child

Like a Japanese Zen garden, the minimalist simplicity gives it a meditative quality. I was walking with my wife along the shore of lake Kawaguchi around dusk. And I saw this lone rock sitting near the shore. I thought it was interesting to juxtapose the lone rock with the most famous volcano in the world. It's a perfect portrait of Earth as a mother and child. This rock was probably "born" out of the volcano eons ago. The photo is serene and calm, but it also hints at the violent birth of the rock. The Earth is alive... spiritually.
