My 1st trip to NY this August found me sitting across from this woman and her daughter on the subway, It was the N subway train from Coney Island. We were headed back to NY, it was about 4pm. I saw the beauty and struggle of motherhood in the woman's face. It told story that I wanted to capture. I also loved that the daughter fell asleep on her mom's shoulder. I'm guessing their day started early and they were finally headed home.
