My son and I decided to take a trip to Rwanda where we could hike in the Volcanoes National Park and hopefully see the mountain gorillas. We lucked out when we came across a family that had come down from the mountain. This silverback was calm yet strong. As I focused on him through my camera I felt his intense gaze. It was as if he knew how long I had waited for this very moment. It sounds so silly, but I have dreamed of this encounter my entire life and this image is such a wonderful reminder of how amazing this world is we get to share with gorillas and other wildlife.
