On November 7th, 2020, it was announced that Biden had won the presidential election, which, in turn meant that Trump had lost. This photo, however, has nothing to do with these politicians, it has to do with hopeful Americans. Americans who had a feeling of return after 4 years of division. The streets of Manhattan were filled with said Americans all day, parading, singing, and sharing the moment. This family was one of the families driving through times square that night. The driver, and presumably father, opened up the sunroof so his daughters could better explore the scenes. They were handed a flag, and I captured the moment. This day, a day of democracy, aspiration, and celebration, for me, truly encapsulates the American experience.
