Mt Nibelung in The Budawangs wilderness from Shrouded Gods Mountain
Inland from south coast of NSW Australia, lies a region of pristine wilderness, The Budawangs. This is an area of deep gorges, flat-topped mountain islands protected by rocky ramparts and untouched forests and creeks. The landscape has a “Lost World” quality. On a three day hike and after climbing a 500ft cliff in fading light I captured this sunset photograph of Mount Nibelung across Monolith Valley with the unmistakeable Pigeon House Mountain in the distance. I love “The Wangs”. It is right up there with some of the most challenging walks in Australia, the possibilities are endless and it’s a landscape photographer’s dream.
