20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Travel
Mukilteo Ferry Terminal

This new terminal in Mukilteo, WA was built with input from several groups, including local tribes. This site is historically significant to local tribes. The Point Elliott Treaty was signed in 1855. Local tribes asked it to be "light on the earth. It is designed after a Coast Salish Longhouse. It is built "green" and LEED certified.
