I took this selfie with my adopted basset-beagle dog, Rufie the Cakernaut, during one of our daily walks along his favorite spot near a neighborhood baseball field. I could tell he wanted to stay a little longer that day to remember the sounds and thrill of the many Little League games he participated in and would never see the following spring. He was a cancer warrior, nearing the end of his life and he knew it. The disease slowly compromised his ability to race across the bases chasing his baseballs, but cancer would never take away his love for life...or the game.
