I met this amazing couple on the long parade route that is walked through the rice fields in Cajun country in central Louisiana during the Courir de Mardi Gras Celebration. The participants don handmade costumes made from fabric scraps. These particular costumes were award winning outfits that her mother had made, and her parents had previously worn. The paradors are encouraged to continue the long trek by floats filled with musicians playing traditional French Cajun music. The French Cajun community has held onto their unique language, music, crafts and traditions since they settled the region in the mid 1700's.
