17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
My first dahlia bloom ever in my garden
As child visited the Illinois State Fair music competition as contestant. Every year after contest went to Dahlia Contest at the Fair. It was so much more beautiful to see flowers because the stress of performing was over. Dahlias became my most cherished flowers, although I never grew them until this year, some almost 50 years later. This is my first bloomed dahlia. Still as beautiful to behold as way back when.
