Beatriz is my 88-year-old grandmother who is one of the most energetic and full of life people I have ever known in my lifetime. Unfortunately, after her spouse of 50 years passed away I found her often to be depressed. Her eyesight has been deteriorating making her unable to read books or magazines anymore. She ends up spending most of her days watching television by herself in her room. This is where I came up with the idea to give her a photo shoot, something to change her daily routine and bring joy and randomness back into her life. Hopefully, I could create some fun new memories with her that were also documented. After she wore the thrift store outfit, I purchased for her, I realized she portrayed a sense of Royalty about her. Playing with that idea, came about a series of photographs I call “The Queen”. This is one of those photographs.
