My Little Treasure

This Ruby-Throated Hummingbird was resting on the branch of a Firebush tree. This tree planted itself in my yard and has become a favorite with my hummingbirds. Recently, there was a storm that blew over this tree which broke in three places and now sits partially in my pool. This hummingbird has decided that it makes a great perch and preened while I observed. It's hard to let go, to remove this tree, to take away a favorite, to end this tree and start another. Life goes on, we just make do.
