New Traditions
Every year around August 10 through August 16, Obon is celebrated in Japan. Obon is a Japanese Buddhist custom of honoring the spirits of ones ancestors. Many Japanese citizens of all ages celebrate Obon by dressing in traditional Japanese clothing as a means of showing respect. Here a young Japanese couple sits outside of a coffee shop in the Gion District in Kyoto, Japan.
