New Years Day Calf

So many parts of rural farm life are interwoven with the cycle of life, the human connection, the building of life long friendships and cultivating family connections. This past winter I happened to be @finneyranchcattle when the Larson family's milking cow had its calf. The family had me over not just to see the beautiful new relationship with mom and baby, but to bring the kids together in their Fox fur hats for a day of barefoot snowball fights, hot coco, and a very cold weathered photo shoot. Life in any rural community (here in the US or in other countries) truly relies on respect for all living things. Witnessing these relationships in this way has brought a profound respect for those who chose to farm this beautiful country, who choose to feed and provide for those living in this country, and those who choose a life that may be less convenient but is underestimated in its fulfillment.
