I wanted to upload this photo today because I woke up surprised that Donald Trump had won the 2016 Presidential Election in my country. I am currently living in Amsterdam with plans to move to Ireland because housing has been so hard for me here. I have been living in a van with my boyfriend and dog. Late October nights were getting colder so we asked all our friends for shelter. Few responded and most with wishes of "no sorry, but good luck!" We were running out of solutions so we asked the people on the outside of the outside of our social groups. A fellow expat and dog lover invited us to stay with her. We slept here in her home for one night. We got our rest and learned from eachother. She too faced difficulties as an expat, immigrant whatever you want to call it. Now with the current show of American Politics I urge Americans to not be tourists anymore but to travel the world and find that we are all one, created as equal and despite our differences, we have great power. More than we know and more than any government official will lead us to believe. If we put down our phones and stop talking on Facebook and instead talk to our neighbor in person, we might feel better about this place. Live life, unobstructed by media, social or otherwise.
