Non Migrating Swan's at Lebedinoye Lake in Altai Region, Russia
Lake Lebedinoye and popularly known by locals as Swan Lake is in the Soviet district of the Altai. Because of hot springs running under the bottom of the lake, the water does not freeze in the harsh Russian winter even when the outside temperature is at a freezing -35ºC. The population of swans that live here is unique as they do not migrate during winter but instead stay in the warm water of the lake with enough food to go through the cold weather. There is also a belief among the locals that – where winters birds live – there will be good people, who will always have love and happiness. It is also believed that swans bring good luck.
