Nonne Italiane

Italian nonne (grandmothers) passing a pleasant afternoon at one of many venetian trattorias. Unlike many other places around the world, Venice and venetians are dealing with "overtourism". A situation caused by constant increase of incoming tourists, 30 millions per year considering daily trips, as well as disappearance of its permanent residents, from over 174000 in 1951 to 50000 in 2022. The sheer number of visitors in proportion to city's population imposes enormous pressure on Venice' infrastructure from sewerage to transport and accommodation.
