The North American Nebula is an emission nebula located near the star Deneb which is the tail in the constellation Cygnus the Swan (aka Northern Cross). This feature is one of the many enhancements to the Milky Way as seen during the summer months. I captured this photo, which is actually a composite, or stack, of eighteen photos (each photo had an exposure length of 120 seconds at ISO800) early in the morning during the first part of July. The camera that was used to take the pictures was modified by removing the LPF-2 filter thereby making it more sensitive to the hydrogen-alpha wavelength which is the portion of the spectrum emitted by the ionized hydrogen which is seen as red in the picture.
