While the streets of New York couldn't be more different, they are alike in one way: no matter the day of the week, the season of the year or the weather, the street and sidewalks contain an assortment of nuts, bolts, screws, washers and other hardware, plus a variety of coins. Where, I wonder, have they come from? What brought them to New York? And what do they all mean?
