18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Ocean at sunset
I was volunteering for a health project in a small village in Nicaragua. Every sunset here is a miracle, when the sky shows the full range of pastel colors. The mountains of El Salvador on the other side of the bay give a sense of harmony and peace.
