20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Ode to Monnet
This photo was taken beside a small pond in the eastern part of America. The rain had just stopped and autumn leaves fell on the water. Their colors were red,yellow, brown, green and white. Trees on the bank and nearby hills seemed to appreciate their art of scattering leaves and leaned forward to make reflections on the water, which also mixed with leaves. The shadow of the white birth was white speckled with grey and formed vigorous lines on the water.
