"Tarpan" is a Hindu ritual where people pray for their departed soul on the auspicious day of Mahalaya, which marks the start of the journey of Goddess Durga from her husband's home in Heaven to her parental home on Earth. People in large numbers throng the ghats of the holy river Ganga to perform the ritual. In this image I have tried to capture the emotion of some devotees.
