Okuno-In Cemetery
Okunion Cemetery is Japan’s biggest and home to the graves of 200,000 Buddhist monks waiting for the resurrection of the future Buddha. This cemetery dates back to 816 AD and is situated in a sacred, ancient forest in the secluded temple town of Koyasan. Koyasan is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the center of Shingon Buddhism, an important sect.
