15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Old but not forgotten
Bodie State Park in California keeps alive the memories of American mining towns. This copper mining community has been preserved as the largest American "ghost" town. Artifacts of the past evoke in the visitor the hardships and struggles of how we grew as a nation and what our ancestors overcame.
