14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Old Faithful and the Northern Lights

Taking some images of Old Faithful and I was very happy to capture the Aurora Borealis coloured sky while Old Faithful erupts. I was not expecting to capture the Aurora let alone a shooting star, but when I checked my email the next day I did receive a red alert for an aurora on this night! Also visible is the faint glow of the Milky Way and a fuzzy little Andromeda galaxy center right. There probably is also some air glow mixed in with the Aurora, but getting the red alert the same night seeing this green sheen in the sky has me leaning towards mostly the Aurora.
